Privacy policy
This policy explains what BT Exam Practice ("we," "us") collects, why, and what we do with it. The site is operated for users in the United States. Last updated: November 5, 2026.
The short version
- The free tools work without an account. We do not know who you are unless you give us your email.
- We measure how the site is used with our own first-party analytics and with Google Analytics 4. We do not show a cookie banner; the site is intended for US users, and the analytics do not collect your name, email, or answers to individual questions.
- If you buy the Re-test Loop, we store your email, your exam date, your progress, and your purchase record. We never see or store your card number.
- Score reports uploaded for a refund are used only to confirm eligibility and are deleted after processing.
- We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.
What we collect
When you use the free tools. Your answers to practice questions and your results, stored in your browser and, in aggregated and pseudonymous form, on our servers so we can compute statistics such as how often a question is answered correctly. A session identifier set in a cookie so that a results page can be shown to you. Technical data such as your browser type, device type, pages visited, referring site, and approximate region derived from your IP address.
When you buy the Re-test Loop. Your email address, the exam date you enter, your purchase record (amount, date, a transaction reference from our payment processor), your progress through the plan, and your answers to drill questions. Our payment processor handles your card details under its own privacy policy; we receive confirmation of payment and the last four digits of the card, not the number.
When you request a refund. The score report you upload and the information you type in the request form.
When you join the waitlist or log in. Your email address, which creates a free account. We use it to send your login code and to tell you when paid drills open.
When you email us. Your email address and whatever you write.
Analytics
We use two tools:
- First-party analytics. Our own servers record events such as a page view, a quick check started or completed, a mock completed, a results page viewed, a checkout started, or a purchase made. Each event carries a session identifier from a cookie, the page path, a timestamp, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page. For signed-in users it also carries your account identifier so that your plan can work. These events are used to count how the site is used and to find where it fails people.
- Google Analytics 4. We load Google's gtag script, which sets cookies and sends usage data to Google. Google's handling of that data is described in Google's privacy policy. You can block it with a browser extension or by disabling third-party scripts; the site works without it.
We do not display a consent banner. Analytics are on by default for all visitors. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics data to show you ads.
Cookies
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session identifier | Links your visit to your results and to analytics events | Up to 1 year |
| Sign-in session | Keeps you signed in after you log in with an emailed code or link | Until you sign out or it expires |
Google Analytics (_ga and related) | Google Analytics 4 measurement | Set by Google, typically up to 2 years |
If you buy the plan, we email you sign-in links, receipts, plan reminders for your scheduled re-tests, and, after your exam date, a message asking how it went and linking to the refund request form. You can turn off reminder emails in your account. We do not send marketing newsletters, and we do not share your email with anyone except the provider that delivers our email on our behalf.
How long we keep data
- Analytics events: up to 26 months, then deleted or reduced to aggregate counts.
- Account, purchase, and progress data: for as long as your account exists, and for the period required for tax and payment records after that.
- Uploaded score reports: deleted within 30 days after the refund request is decided.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to answer and follow up.
Who we share data with
Service providers that run the site for us: our hosting provider, our payment processor, our email delivery provider, and Google (for Analytics). Each receives only what it needs for its function. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
Your choices and rights
- You can use all free tools without giving us any personal information.
- You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@btexampractice.com from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days. Deleting your account ends your access to the plan.
- You can block Google Analytics in your browser. First-party analytics cannot be turned off individually, but they contain no name or email unless you are signed in.
- Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, such as California, may have additional rights to access, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. To exercise any right, email us.
Children
The site is for adults preparing for a professional exam. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and the paid plan requires you to be at least 18.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use personal information you have already given us, we will email account holders.
